Welcome to DAY TWO of 2025 Studio Teacher Thanksgiving! π₯
Welcome back! I absolutely LOVED hearing your stories yesterday of those who encouraged you. It's a great representation of the *best* of humanity. Thanks to all who replied.
One quick reminder:
This is the ONLY time of year I send daily emails. You'll hear from me Monday through Friday this week. If you would like to OPT-OUT of Studio Teacher Thanksgiving emails, please click the button below.
(You will still receive Piano Teacher Confessions, but not the gratitude reflections in this series.)
The (4 min) video, above, introduces our second point of gratitude for the week.
Spoiler Alert: Today we're giving thanks for the SYMBIOTIC nature of music study. Yes, we become an important part of our students' lives, but it's important to remember they serve us in similar ways.
(If you've never heard my treatise on Symbiotic Studio Relationships, check out Episode 068) π
Take a moment today and consider the amount of LIFE you've experienced alongside your students. We can't help but weave our influence into the fabric of one another's lives.
All my biggest life memories: getting married, the birth of my children, the loss of loved ones... they are all speckled with memories of student families I would not have if it weren't for this work.
If we're open to it, our students teach us just as much as we teach them. I would love to hear something YOUR students have taught you.
Sure, people can be tricky... but today I'm choosing gratitude and I hope you do the same.
...that's all for today, Teacher Friends! I'll see you again tomorrow for Day THREE of Studio Teacher Thanksgiving!

β
Becoming a Beyond Measure SUPERFRIEND is another all-star symbiotic move for music teachers. For just $6, you score access to hours upon hours of video resources - including our popular Teachers Teaching Teachers sessions.
SuperFriends also get weekly Monday Morning Power Hours, bonus interview segments with podcast guests, and additional offerings like 2024's What Should I Teach Next? (where I played Repertoire Matchmaker for a summer - one of my favorite things!)
The SuperFriends Community is what funds the (increasingly-expensive!) backend operations of Beyond Measure. For just a few dollars each month you can help ensure this work keeps getting published. Thanks for partnering with me!
